Quality Counts 2007: From Cradle to Career, Connecting American Education From Birth to Adulthood, a new report by the Editorial Projects in Education Research Center (The publication otherwise known as Education Week), warns that children's chances for success in school varies dramatically by state. California Superintendent of Schools Jack O'Connell commended Education Week for "expanding the focus and context of its annual Quality Counts report," in a press release from his office, and noted that both the Edweek report and Children Now's California Report Card (reported on by the Daily News and linked-to below) both "provide a sobering look at the current state of education and other services for California's children.
