Please note that a copy of the "presentation" to be made by Mr. Cortines or his staff at these meetings is available through the District's main web page under the "News and Events" column. The direct URL for the pdf file is http://notebook.lausd.net/pls/ptl/url/ITEM/70A8C793F4D3C038E0430A000210C038.

After reading it a couple of times, I had to conclude that the presentation refers to Flores-Aguilar's proposal only very obliquely. Hence, all these meetings might be just political theater designed to produce apparent "community" support for the proposal that is now in official limbo. Conversely, Mr. Cortines might be lining up support of his own.

It would be good if attendees are familiar with it so that they can discuss it in relation to Mr. Cortines' dog and pony show. Incidentally, laschoolboard.org is, not surprisingly, a horribly bad web site. I could not find the proposal anywhere under the visible menu buttons. I had to use google to find it elsewhere (this blog included). Eventually, I found it deep in the bowels of laschoolboard.org hidden inside of a link inside of another link inside of yet another link on last month's calendar. And there was no mention of how the vote went. Is this level of obfuscation due to malice or stupidity?

BTW, exactly who are the interests behind this proposal, other than the Mayor? Who is the benefactor of the "foundation" willing to pay the salary of the "leader" envisioned by the plan? Inquiring minds want to know. :-)
